Our cat Mia is a 12 year old short hair that was born under our porch. No one wanted her so we adopted her. Back in October she developed a runny nose. It was a clear discharge. After about 2 weeks it cleared on it’s own. Around Christmas it came back with a vengeance and she started making a loud snoring noise. We took her to an emergency vet Christmas eve and they put her on Clavamox and suggested we take her to her primary Vet. Her primary vet did not open until Jan 2 so we waited all the while giving her the Clavamox which did not seem to do any good. Her primary vet saw her 1/3 and put her on Zithromax. 2 weeks passed and no change. Now there was some bleeding from her nose and eyes. I contact a Vet in CA that has some specialty in this area and he suggest an injection of Convenia (antibiotic) and Depomedrol (steroid). Her primary Vet agreed to this and within a day, her discharge stopped and so did the snoring noise. We were excited but it didn’t last. 4 days later it all came back again. I took her to another vet who did a nasal swab which came back positive for a Mycoplasma infection. They put her on Doxycyclene 100mg x 20 days. After 20 days, there was no change at all. I took her to a third vet who drew blood and it showed all normal, no infection but she was put on additional Doxycyclene oral suspension and there is still no change. The bleeding comes and goes but there is always some sort of discharge from her nose and eyes. The next step was a referral to a specialist surgeon to do a CT scan and then a treatment plan which will run into thousands of dollars which we don’t really have. She is acting fairly normal through all of this and is eating and drinking. She even plays a little but gets easily tired because of the difficulty in breathing. Sorry for the long story but looking for suggestions at this point. We are in FL but heading back to PA in about a month at which point I want to make an appointment with Jarretsville Vet.
I should add that we are absolute animal lovers and have fostered about 40 cats / kittens over the years and have found forever homes for all but 5 that no one wanted which we have adopted.
Bosun has this discharge in his eye.
I think he always has a little? But is there something I can use to clean it up?
I am so devastated after losing my 9 year old bunny.
I hope someone can help me to find out exactly what caused his death. I took him to the vet on 20/04/2018 because he had a slight sneeze and was shaking his head and pointing his chin upward as if to breathe better. I was told he had an allergy. On the 09/05/2018 (19 days later ) I took him him back as he still had the slight sneeze, shaking of the head and this time had a weepy eye. After a check over I was told he was fine still just an allergy as their was no thick discharge from his nose. On the 10/05/2018 he started with very small stools and by the evening it had developed into GI Stasis. (We have had a lot of noise next door with builders so I put the Stasis down to stress). He had a very loud, noisy tummy that night. I gave him Clopamon to keep his appetite going. Took some droppings to the vet the following day so she could see the size and she gave him Metcam pain medication. Saw her again the next day, his tummy still had noises but he seemed a bit better he was given another Metcam injection. She said she was giving me Cortisone ‘ as a last resort’ as hopefully it would sort out the sneeze. I only gave him 1 Cortisone tablet and stopped because I have heard that Cortisone is not good and also because she told me she was reluctant to give it to him. She told me to return in a week but she was still adamant it was just an allergy. I got him through the GI Stasis very quickly, he never stopped eating although the stools took a few days to return to normal. I also syringed him Critical Care and extra water and gave tons of love.
I kept him on the bed for a while each night to monitor him until he wanted to go back to his room. Up until I took him back to her, he was hoping around the house and outside, very active. All the symptoms seemed to have cleared and things were back to normal. The vet then left for holiday for 3 weeks holiday. The slight sneeze did return and I noticed when he hopped a bit he would stop to give a slight sneeze. The next week he was fine. I did not take him outside as much as I had an eye op, but he still hoped around on our big verandah. He was eating and drinking fine. On the Saturday afternoon we went out for a drive and took him with as he loved going in the car. He sat on my lap, was not restless at all. I did not hear any noises indicating anything was wrong. He was fine that evening. I kept him on the bed for a couple of hours, but all of a sudden he jumped up and peed all over, almost as if he got a pain. My husband took him through to his sandbox. After putting clean sheets on the bed, I fetched him so I could monitor him. After a while his eyes started watering profusely and he kept pushing his face into my hand. He then wet a little again, so I went to put him back on the sandbox. I thought I would leave him awhile to finish his business. Unfortunately I dozed off for a couple of hours. When I woke up and went through to fetch him he was curled up dead on his blanket. This was the 27/05/2018. I feel so guilty that I dozed off. I have checked online and sure he had some kind of upper respiratory problem. Rabbits are inclined to hide illnesses. The vet never ever took an X-Ray or blood test obviously because she believed it was an allergy. Has any other bunny lover had a similar experience. I hope I can get an answer. I am devasted and need some kind of closure. Thank you.

My 15 year old cat’s health is declining and the 3 different vets that have seen her over the past few months can’t seem to figure out what’s wrong with her. It started with a limp in her leg, then sores on her foot on that leg, and now the whole inside of that leg is missing hair. She was given prednisone and is walking normally again but now she’s also drooling and has yellow discharge from her eyes along with weight loss. She was given more daily prednisone and a convenia injection about a week ago and her symptoms aren’t really improving. Has anyone else seen anything like this and successfully treated it? What was the treatment so I can discuss this with the veterinarian?
What’s wrong with our cat? Is she in pain? What can we do to help? We’ve gone to the vet twice and she said our cat has glucoma and a tumor and the only thing we can do is put her down because she’s 16. Recently her eye started releasing discharge (watery) and smelling very rotten.
Need advice – my poor GSD has been thru the ringer these past few months.
First vestibular, then fleas! – then what looked like dog flu, runny eyes, warm, runny nose… skin infection.. discharge from eyes (like she’s crying) and now sores under both eyes, being washed with warm cotton ball, dried and cream applied with cortisone with anti itch stuff.
has been in Cipro prescribed by vet, for at least 25 plus days (3rd refill) 2 treatments of steroids (vet prescribed)
and NOW, horrible Ear infection/mites, its Jan 1st, Im waiting until Jan 2nd to get her in the vets, BUT is there anything I can do to make her more comfortable? There must be something?
4 year old male boxer. Red eye, swollen, drooping with white discharge. He is squinting, rapidly blinking and pawing at the eye. Conjunctivitis? Cherry eye?
My puppy has swollen eyes and discharge coming out of both what do i do? Her eyes aren’t red and she can still open them just fine but I’m very very worried!
