I have bought a green-cheek conure(pineapple mutation) to handfeed it. I started to feed it Harrison’s formula with a specialized spoon from its 9 days old.
Around its 20 days old, it started to show regressed appetite for the formula. Even when its crop is completely empty, it only actively took in formula for the first 2-3ml. Every time I feed it with a spoon of formula, this little baby shows resistance to the next spoon of formula. After I fed it 4-5ml of formula, it becomes completely unwilling to take in any further formula regardless of the temperature or thickness of the formula.
Given its crop was far from full then, I had nothing to do but force it to take in another 3-4ml of formula in case it gets too hungry between two meals. This lasts for nearly ten days and I don’t want to force it to eat anymore because it may really hurts the baby conure or our relationship from the perspective of long-term.
Trust me, I have tried to feed it with a syringe and it didn’t work either. The baby conure still showed resistance to any further feeding after being fed with 4-5ml of formula. In addition, during the last week, I sparsely noticed any active eating behaviors from it after the first 2 spoons of formula.

My younger dog is getting very aggressive towards my older dog, including real biting. They’ve always played in the past, with the younger being very submissive. What’s going on?

In some cases it is a combination of he puppy getting older and more boisterous and demanding of time and attention and an older dog getting tired and/or unable to keep up. If it appears that the puppy is escalating the play to the point of biting simply because the previous tactics and attempts are not working I would recommend you start playing more with the puppy, find a park where the pup can really let loose, or get a puppy for your puppy so your old dog can be at peace.
Are they the same sex? That can contribute, as well as maturity.
Work on obedience and other training with the younger dog, separate from the older dog. Wear his fuzzy butt out so he pesters the older dog less. I would start crating them when you can’t supervise just to keep both dogs safe, too – this behavior, if left unchecked, can turn into fighting.
my 6 months old cane corso just got a cherry eye but he just had a surgery under general anesthesia a few days ago. are there any concerns if i did the cherry eye surgery these days meaning that he will take general anesthesia 2 times in just 10 days? and is there any possibility that the cherry eye might go on its own?

The cherry eye, or third eyelid prolapse can return to its normal position, but even if it does they typically re-prolapse. They are not an emergency surgery, so I would talk to your vet about the pros and cons of back to back surgeries for this specific procedure.
my 3 month old puppy is not eating . her poop is black and wet she wont stop crying she also has asome kind of allergy on her forhead
Please see a veterinarian immediately. Your puppy is too young and too fragile. There are many possible causes to this and time is of the essence.

I had run out my house leaving butter on my counter to thaw. I arrived home to find 2 large piles of what I assumed was bile. While cleaning it up I realized it was in fact butter, to my horror my dog had consumed 3 sticks of butter. I have a call in to my vet but would love to know how bad this is to ease my mind. My boy is a Border Collie/GSD mix, 80lbs, 4 years and in good overall health, aside from vomiting he seems to be his normal self. (And yes, I know better than to leave anything on the counter.) Well, it may or may not be bad; depending on how strong his system is. Butter is not toxic but it is, clearly, very high in fat. So the biggest danger from consumption of so much of it would be pancreatitis. I imagine some dogs might eat all that and just get a mild stomach upset. Others might get in a lot of trouble. Pancreatitis is painful and can be dangerous. If he’s still vomiting and/or looking ill, do see a vet asap.
Dog bite. On Christmas Day she got bitten by another dog . All vets are closed right now. What can I do until tomorrow to clean the wound or to ease her pain. She’s 11 yrs. old.
Without knowing the extent of the injury all I can advise is to try to keep her quiet and calm and monitor for any trouble breathing or discomfort. Signs of breathing difficultly, trouble walking, dissension of the abdomen, bleeding, changes in attitude that include panting, inability to get comfortable, or any sign of distress warrant an immediate trip to the closest emergency clinic. Please see the vet tomorrow and I expect they will do a thorough exam and provide pain medication (please don’t use an over the counter without the vets ok), and antibiotics.
My cat has vomited three times today – it was clear and has gotten yellow. He’s still drinking water and is active – no lethargy or soreness. Do I need to take him to the ER immediately or should I see if it continues?

There are many causes for vomiting and many are acute and transient and do not require a trip to the ER. In general we recommend that you not give your pet any food or water for about 12 hours to let the stomach and gi tract rest. The only concern with this is if there is a chance your cat is dehydrated. If your cat is acting normally and the gums are moist and the skin turgor is normal (this is the amount of skin tent in the area of the shoulders) then they are likely not dehydrated. If the vomiting persists in spite of with holding food and water, or if your cat appears to be quiet, lethargic, depressed or cannot stop vomiting, then yes a trip to the vet is in order.
Look around the house to make sure that your cat hasn’t eaten anything inappropriate or dangerous like any kind of toxin (plants, toys, rotten food, etc). If an accidental ingestion is possible this warrants an immediate trip to the vet for care.
If the vomiting stops over the 12 hours i recommend offering small amounts of watered down wet food every 3-4 hours starting tomorrow. If the vomiting returns see the vet.

Without knowing more about the health status of your dog and the size and type of chocolate eaten I cannot answer this completely. The pet poison helpline can calculate the answer based on a series of answers to questions they will ask. This is the best place to find the answer to this question.
In general a healthy normal pup with a small milk chococolate is unlikely to cause an issue.
There are also several “choc tox” apps available for free online. They may help provide some guidance.
Hello- I posted a few pics of my German shepherd, Butch last week because he had some sort of injury to his eye. It got much smaller, and we thought it was gone, but it appears to have tripled in size since Thursday. Yes… 2 days. He always rubs his face on the sofa and on Thursday it wasn’t nearly this big, but I thought yesterday when I got home from work that he just irritated it by rubbing on the sofa. Now I’m kicking myself for not just bringing him to the vet in the first place. I’ll call Monday for an appointment hopefully Tuesday. I know JVC has walk in hours on Sunday, but I always feel like those are for emergencies and I don’t want to take up someone else’s’s emergency spot. Here it is today. Any thoughts on whether or not it warrants an “emergency” visit. It has a scab on it now, because I’ve been diligent about not letting him rub along the sofa a rip it off. It feels like a nodual or some sort of hard cyst, and is a little larger than my pinky nail at this time.

I dont think it is an emergency. I also think that the rubbing is probably due to an itch and is likely the cause of the significant swelling and size increase. Based on breed and location I would suspect an allergy or infection. Please see your vet and ask about a topical ophthalmic and an ecollar. Also ask about using diphenhydramine if it recurs. It might save you a vet visit the next time.

I have a 6 year old Boston terrier that I adopted in january 2016 she was abused badly previously and as the months go on I just can’t seem to help her get over her fears, if anyone even approaches her she pees if we call to her she pees we can’t sweep around her because she’s terrified of brooms shes terrified of everything to be honest she’s always shaking and no matter how much I feed her she stays bone thin I’ve tried different techniques but nothing seems to calm her fear does anyone have advice? Anything would help greatly
We have a German shepherd who was in a similar state when we got him. Our vet recommended a trainer/behaviorist. It took TIME, and honestly I really believe in our case, the rescue of a second dog who is just a ‘happy dog” lab mix, helped immensely with the German shepherds recovery. So the first 6 months seemed an endless maze of new issues popping up. Our trainer was wonderful and kept reminding us to be patient, consistent, loving and firm. With the help of our vet office (shout out to JVC) and our trainer, we have the best dogs in the entire world now and I wouldn’t change trade them for anything in the world. Good luck to you!!

I agree with Dr. Magnifico – work on training with a trainer. Training, particularly in group settings, can help build confidence in shy dogs.
Hi, I’d recommend that you join an online hand-feeding forum for your problems with handfeeding. The baby could be rejecting the formula because the formula isn’t warm enough, or it could have an infection in its crop. It would also be a good idea to visit an avian vet if you have one in your area. Please do this soon, as these babies can go downhill very fast.
