Good morning, may I ask about a cat that got hit by a car who has pelvic fracture… does she needs surgery or cage rest will do? I’ve heard that others only have them cage rest and after 4-6weeks they can walk again… however I would like to know which is the best since animals deserve everything in life. Thank you very much
Hello, my cat had pelvis fracture and it can not move it’s tail and back legs a week now, what can I do ?
I have a 5month old pug his front left leg is fractured and the surgery is to expensive I can’t afford it any idea what to do or where to go that’s not so pricey
My Mother’s 15 year old toy poodle (Bobo) had a non-healing front leg fracture which they decided to have amputated. 3 days after surgery she had to take Bobo in for excessive drainage. Another surgery was performed to remove dead tissue, fix stitches and put 7 drains in. Bobo was never given prophylactic or therapeutic antibiotics , nor any drains placed when the amputation was performed.
Is this standard practice or was the vet negligent? My mother now has a $1200.00 bill for the 2nd surgery and hospital stay.
Hi. My dog Daisy has hurt herself and has not been able to walk or use her back legs. After advice and a little time we took her to get x rays. She does not have a fracture so i asume the next possibility is a disc injury. The vet has referred us to a specialist in akron for surgery and recomended that we should not wait more than 12 to 24 hours. This is not possible for my family. The vet also said that she is incontinent due to nerve damage but i have done some research on injuried disc and it seems to only be a problem if they are not urinating or deficating which my dog has been doing both. I believe this is because she can not get up to go outside so we have kept pee pads under her and we clean her every time she goes. If she had a stroke i believe she should have improved on her own by now. If she has injured her disc (possibly thoracic area) is there any non surgical options? Could we keep her on bed rest and possibly some at home physical therapy? She doesnt seem to be in any unbearable pain as long as we contiue to give her meds ( Tramadol 50mg, Prednisone 20mg, Methocarbamol 500mg, Gabapentin 100mg). I do not want to just give up on her and put her down as she is still young and just this morning she tried to jump up after getting excited but i quickly stopped her because it can still be painful to flip her if we touch the wrong spot. Because of the way she was positioned when i walked in the room she lifted her head/neck backwards and it seems to be a good sign of mobility. Her back legs are the only problem. Any advice would help. Thank you.
My cat suffered a pelvic fracture and we can’t afford surgery. Is there anyway we can avoid putting him down and just nurse the fracture. Will he ever be able to walk again? I’ve seen some videos about how cats can recover naturally but this seems pretty bad. He is eating peeing and pooping so that’s a good sign. Does anybody know if he can have some quality of life or should he just be out down?
Hi the neighborhood stray cat was hit by a car, it has femur and pelvic fractures and is FIV positive, what do you recommend? he’s been also recently coughing, has a long unhealed belly blister, and is generally thin i guess because of FIV. Doctor say option is a long uncertain surgeries and heeling tthat would cost over 5000$ or just put it to sleep! is there hope for heeling with FIV or it will be useless pain? thanks
My dachshund had a small accident and hurt his left hind leg. Xray doesn’t show any fracture as such. But there is a little swelling on its last toe .There is a wound and vet did dressing on the day this happened. Is it safe to give 2½ years old dachshund antibiotics injection daily continues for 6 days. And is dressing required to be done daily for 6 days. Its been 2 days. Today he had loose motions. I think its because of antibiotics 5-10ml injection.vet will change the dressdressing daily for 6 days. And inject antibiotics. I think I should consult another doctor for my pet. I think this will Cause an over dose of antibiotics for my 9 kgs miniature dachshund. Please help
My son ran over a stray kitten. He took it to a somewhat local vet since the closest one to us isn’t open on weekends. X-rays show fractured hip. Looks as if the ball is totally broken off. The cost of surgery is not an option. The vet said rest and it could “possibly” heal. I saw a you tube video by Dr. Magnifico about cage rest for a fractured pelvis and am wondering (as a 2nd opinion since we can’t afford surgery) if that is the best option for hip fractures as well. The kitten seems to be around 12 weeks, he is eating and drinking and using the litter box. Any advice would be much appreciated.
