11 month old puppy has welts/hives/bumps all over her body and legs.. not sure if it’s from something she ate, bees, allergic reaction to some type of plant? She’s acting pretty normal otherwise, just looks terrible! Her vet doesn’t have any appointments available for 10 days. He did say to give her Benadryl, which she has had two doses of and doesn’t seem to be helping much. When should I worry and consider taking her to an emergency vet clinic?
Hi Dr. Magnifico. I realized the geriatric diet is chicken based, which gives Dottie hives. Would the liver diet work with some kind of supplement we could add to it? Maybe some pumpkin or something? I have been trying to find low protein, fish based geriatric foods for dogs with liver and kidney problems. Thank you!
my french bulldog is scooting, Scratching, and barking at butt what could be wrong she has also developed hives from soap allergy about a week ago could that be the issue
My girlfriend’s dog Rocky, a chihuahua, jack russell terrier mix, has been vomiting now for 3 days, with what look like bites but could be hives pretty much all over. He responds to benadryl, but he won’t stop vomiting, and once the benadryl wears off, the welts/hives/bites come back. Take him to the vet right?
My 3y/o APBT seems to be having an allergic reaction to something. Large hives. Swollen. I have pictures, if needed. Slight fever. I found a sore on her neck which appears to be a bite, or sting (?). Her breathing and swallowing seem okay. Another issue is she is having severe anxiety over the fireworks and gunfire going off all around us (4th of July weekend). I do not know if this could be a factor. Suggestions?
Hi I recently bought a puppy(Tuesday) and he had just had just had his vet check and they said he may have eczema, and gave vetadine to make it go away.
Since Tuesday each day his sores have gotten worse and worse.
Yesterday I rang the vet that he had seen and said the eczema has turned into lumps and has spread to his neck chest nose and stomach.
The lady said keep putting vetadine on it and see if it goes away in a week, she said she thinks it’s hives.
Today it’s even worse.
Idk what to do now other than go take him to the vet
My dog was outside for 10 minutes and I look at him and his face had begun to swell bad and then I noticed he got hives on his body. Breathing and actions were normal. I gave him benedryl and the swelling went down within an hour but there is still some on his left jowl. Could it be a bee sting in February?
I don’t know what to give him to make the hives go away I gave him a cold bath but don’t know if I should give him a Benadryl because he is so small and already on meds (he is a 9.5 lbs chihuahua mix) please any suggestions it’s too late at night to be brought to the vet
My 2 year old pit bull has a sever rash on his thighs up to his chest and under arms. We rescued him a year ago and everything was fine but about 4 months after we got him the rash started appearing. By vet recommendation we moved him to gluten free food that helped for a little but the rash returned. Then the vet gave us allergy medicine. That worked until they were gone and then the rash was back again. Now the rash is worse than ever. It starts out looking like dry, irritated, inflamed skin around his thighs and under arms and then starts to peel and ooze. Up his chest he has red bumps that half look like pimples and half like hives. Our vet now wants to try allergy shots but I don’t want to do that unless I know it will work and nothing else will. I am very tight on money but what my baby to feel better.
My dog has some sort of bad allergic reaction to something and I haven’t been able to identify what it is yet. His face swells up a LOT and he sometimes gets hives. I’ve taken him to the vet when this happens for emergency treatment. But I was wondering if I could give him Benadryl as a preventative for when I have to leave him home alone? If anyone has any knowledge on this is appreciate it. Thanks
Hello,
Call around and find a vet who is available to see you ASAP or ask your vet which emergency facility they refer to. I would start there. If it lasts longer than 6 hours I recommend an ER visit.
