This is truly an emergency. You need to get her to a vet immediately- it is only going to get more costly the longer you wait. I’m sorry. Is there anyway that you could call the local shelters to see if they can help with cost? Or talk to your vet to work out a payment plan with them directly?

Go to the ER. Have the cat assessed and the bladder drained. Then keep looking for help. This is an emergency.

Hi, Kirby,my 11 Year Old Cat, Has Taken A Liking To Spending The Whole Day Laying …

Hi,
Kirby,my 11 year old cat, has taken a liking to spending the whole day laying outside on the covered deck. He complains if I make him come in! He and my other cat Cricket have always been indoor only cats, so I have never been concerned about fleas. But now, I’m starting to be worried that he may contract them, even though he isn’t down on the ground. I’m assuming that fleas, as well as ticks, can fly, and I don’t want either cat to be exposed to them. What protection do you recommend? I don’t want to just buy something OTC without asking. Thanks, Maggie

I would talk to your vet about preventatives for fleas and ticks. And I would treat both cats since one can bring hem them inside to the other.

I’m sorry, but your cat needs to be seen by a vet. Medications cannot be prescribed without a Rx from the vet, and it sounds like your cat has serious injuries. Please get your cat in to be seen as soon as possible.

You must take the cat to the vet. Figure out the payment stuff later.

Hello! My Cat Chunk Has Been Recently Having Issues With His Front Paws For The Past 2 …

Hello!
my cat chunk has been recently having issues with his front paws for the past 2 months. It’s off and on and when I touch his paws he doesn’t wince or cry. He still uses the scratching pad with no issue, but he’s limping and he can no longer jump up on the bed as easily. I’m afraid he may have arthritis. What is a good supplement or something we can get to help him with his joints so he’s strong again! He’s not an elderly cat, I guess you could call him middle aged. Thank you! He’s about 15 lbs

I think I’d start with a vet check. Medicating without diagnosis can be dangerous, and it’s possible he has an injury you can’t see.

Anyone Know What Could Cause Horribly Smelly Cat Poop?

Anyone know what could cause horribly smelly cat poop? I know what normal cat poop smells like, and this is not it! Buford has always had this condition. To make matters worse, he doesn’t cover it, so the smell quickly permeates through the whole house. OMG!!

When I first got him about two years ago (he was a feral adult), I had his poop tested for all parasites including giardia, and it all came up negative. He seems healthy otherwise.

Thanks.

Hello,
Has your veterinarian sent the fecal sample to the lab for analysis? Have you spoke to your vet about this? I would start there. There are numerous things this can be but a vet visit is the best and first place to start.

Hello,
Thanks for the reply. Did you talk to your vet? In these cases I always advise three serial negative fecals before I rule out parasites. Then I do a maldigestion profile and bloodwork. After that I do a series of treatments to see if any help. Like tylan, panacur and even a steroid in some cases. But diet change is also important to consider. Let us know. Good luck.

I Just Recently Changed My 14 Month Old Cat’s Dry Food But She Hasn’t Been …

I just recently changed my 14 month old cat’s dry food but she hasn’t been eating as she used to. Then yesterday i saw there was smear in her bottom and it was brownish orangy i was not sure if there’s blood. Her poops are formed and brown though as usual. This morning poop is the same. But this afternoon she was on my lap and checked her bottom and a small dot of water came out. I wonder if she has diarrhea. She’s been having brownish discharge for about two weeks now too. Also, she’s been shedding since two months ago not sure if thats normal when cat age. What could be wrong? She doesn’t look sick.

Good morning😊 Is your cat spayed? It could possibly be related to the change in food, but if she isn’t spayed it could be something more than diet. Either way- I think I would collect a stool sample and get an appointment with the vet to be safe. I would let the vet know the dietary changes recently. If your cat is not spayed, please consider it. Have a great day😁🐾

It could be the diet change…. I would maybe call the vet if she is still having issues and get her in and bring a sample. Hope she’s ok!!

If the diet change wasn’t gradual, I would assume she’s having a hard time with it. Cats aren’t as flexible as dogs when it comes to food and changes really need to be gradual.

It’s also possible this particular food doesn’t agree with her. Have you tried other formulations of the original brand?

My Cat Coughs, Gags, And Has To Walk Away And Take A Second To Relax And …

my cat coughs, gags, and has to walk away and take a second to relax and breathe after petting him and he starts purring. His meows are also weird and don’t sound normal and it’s more of just a quiet raspy “ah” sound. He coughs and gags after purring so i try not to pet him for too long but he loves attention and starts purring just by looking at you. He also starts breathing heavy and fast. He constantly has raspy breathing and snores when he sleeps. His vet thinks he may have a polyp does his symptoms sound like a polyp?

Hello,
It doesn’t sound like a typical polyp to me. These pets tend to sound like they are snoring all the time. Try to find someone who will do a sedated oral cavity exam for you. That will help.

Hello, My Cat Koshka Has Been Suffering From Chronic Upper Respiratory Symptoms (snorty Breathing, Sometimes Bloody …

Hello, my cat Koshka has been suffering from chronic upper respiratory symptoms (snorty breathing, sometimes bloody sneezing) for quite some time now and I’m worried that she may have a nasopharyngeal polyp. I’ve watched several videos posted on youtube by Krista Magnifico and our situation sounds very similar to what was described there. This has been persisting for 2 years and she has been to the vet 4 times now and last week I took her to a new vet for a second opinion and she prescribed prednisone and said she could refer me to a specialist to do a rhinoscopy which costs over $2000.

My question is why hasn’t anyone thought to check for a polyp like Dr. Magnifico has been doing in these videos? It seems like a relatively simple and cost effective procedure. I’m getting very discouraged and frustrated at the thought of paying thousands of dollars just for diagnostics alone when I am currently unemployed. I’d be happy to take her in to the Jarrettsville Vet Center but I live in Nashville which is 12hrs away. I would love to hear any kind of advice on this matter as I’m not sure what to do at this point. Thank you for reading this!

Hello, As with all of these cases I do t know why more vets don’t do a sedated exam and look for a polyp. I know lots who do, but most don’t. Please call around and try to find someone who is willing to look. Also based o the history of your cats symptoms it is unlikely this is a polyp. Most polyps I have seen are in young cats and the degree if inspiratory effort and noise worsens significantly over time. I would say about 6-12 months. I feel this is more likely to be either rhinitis (usually secondary… Read more »

Hi there- I would keep an eye on her and if she acts like she is in distress give the vet a call. I think since it was a small piece, and in the cheese rather than a straight piece of habanero pepper she is probably fine? If she starts panting call the vet….and check the litter box. It might be messy later.

Hello,
I would be most worried about gi issues, like vomiting and diarrhea. If you don’t see any of this in the next day or two you are probably fine.
