I have a wonderful 11 year old female choclate lab & over the last 2 weeks she has been constantly rolling on her back she is on an anti itch rx& anti itch rx however she is constantly rolling on her back any advice???

1. Has she been checked for mange?  On a scale of 1 to 10, sarcoptic mange is a 20!  It can be difficult to detect so even if they checked her for it once, if she is really “constantly” itching they need to check her again if you haven’t used a pesticide designed to kill mites.  And all three cases of sarcoptic mange for which I have been treated (along with my dogs) developed in February in Pennsylvania.  The cure is several doses of Revolution, 2 weeks apart — and skin care while she is getting cured. 2. assuming you’re someplace that experiences winter, it has been a brutal one for many of us.  dryness in the air can contribute to dryness in skin.

my vet suggested frozen sardines for dry skin, as the natural oils in the fish can help.  talk to your vet about possible food additives like sardines or olive oil.  ask whether vitamin b is also needed (it is if you supplement with fish oil, but i don’t know if it is for other oils).
