Hello. My 2.5 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix started having incontenence only when we visited my parents country home. It later started occurring when my sister’s dog was visiting our home. It didn’t make sense for it to not occur when we’re were at home alone. Took her to vet. The vet tried everything for incontenence but she said it didn’t make sense we knew when it happened. She put her on amoxicillin (she said for bacteria or Protista), gave her Proin, and Urinary SO Royal Canine. I quit giving her Proin after four days as she had a strange breathing episode that hasn’t happened again sense. It was a pretty expensive vet visit that resulted in no improvement. The incontenence continues and today at my parents home I noticed her holding her tail strange. Earlier that day she yelped when I moved her hind leg. I touched her tail to see if it was sensitive and it was. I researched her symptoms which I know any doctors don’t appreciate. I really think it may be lumbosacral stenosis. It would make sense for her peeing at those time because she then has a massively open area to exercise a lot. What is my best course of action to minimize my cost? We love her too much to let it go if it is. I’m about to take loans to go to Optometry school so money is tight. Can I go straight to a specialist? I worry the local vet won’t know what it is or how to correctly test for it.
