I have a 3 year old Pomeranian and I have been trying to break him…

I have a 3 year old Pomeranian and I have been trying to break him of growling when you pick him up, show him attention , when you are telling him a command basically just about everything. Also he is potty trained but when we are not home or we put him out of our room he pees on are rugs by the doors please help

Hi there… sorry you are having this issue. First, I would make sure that there isn’t anything wrong. I say this because one of our dogs was a growler and we couldn’t figure it out. It turns out she had a hairline fracture that went unnoticed and became a bone infection. So, there could possibly be an underlying medical reason your dog is acting out. You really should consult a professional obedience trainer for these issues. By 3 years of age, your dog should be fully housebroken…and your dog’s constant growling tells me there isn’t a good relationship between the two of you. Please, find a good trainer who can help you understand what’s going on here.

Hello, I would first be sure nothing is awry medically to cause the accidents. Then determine when the accidents are occurring. My dog would have accidents overnight. She would do just fine during the day. A visit to the vet ruled out any medical concerns and crating overnight eliminated accidents overnight. I then go Back to Basics. When going back to basics I crate when I can’t be with them and tether to me to eliminate the risk of wandering off and having an accident when I am not watching.
