I treated my 4 year old, female, 37 lb., whippet cross with Drontal Plus one week ago and I found more round worms in her poop this morning. Does this mean the drug did not work?

Not necessarily. Were the worms alive? Sometimes you may see dead worms shed in stool. Also, 7 days may be a little early to completely flush everything out. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends a follow up exam when using Drontal Plus (with a stool sample) 2 – 4 weeks after treatment, so unless there are other issues I wouldn’t be too concerned until the follow up.

That said, it’s always best to double check with your veterinarian whenever there is a concern about your pets health.
