Is it necessary to treat for fleas during cold weather since fleas probably can’t survive the cold outdoors.?

The short answer is yes!

It may be cold outside but its warm inside your house with heating, and fires.

I hope your dog doesn’t live outside all year? Dogs need to be inside with their humans and be part of the family.

The real answer is maybe!  Does your dog have fleas?  Are there fleas in your house?  Does your dog go visiting to places that have fleas inside in the winter?  If the answer is Yes to these questions — then you need to treat for fleas in cold weather.  If on the other hand, if you stop treating for fleas and your dog doesn’t suddenly develop a case of itching and you don’t see any fleas hopping across your carpet then you do not need to use the chemicals on him/her during the cold months.
