My 18 year old cat Growltiger has been through a lot. He was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in 2016 and has been on his meds since then. He also has arthritis. About 2 weeks ago, he had a seizure while laying next to me. My vet said this was most likely due to old age and not having enough nutrients absorbed so we added some supplements to his diet. Yesterday he had bad diarrhea and is now walking/stumbling around with a lessened appetite. My worry here is this is him going downhill and I don’t want him to be in pain. Does this sound like it may be close to his time? He’s at 6.2 pounds as of last vet visit 2 weeks ago

Hello,
I’m sorry to hear that your kitty isn’t doing well. It sounds like she is struggling and I recommend seeing your vet again as soon as possible. Hyperthyroidism can be a complicated disease and in some cases additional bloodwork, an X-ray or even an ultrasound are needed to help diagnose and understand the complexities of a pets condition. I hope this helps. Good luck.
