Hi, I’m seeking medical advice for an orange domestic shorthair 7-year old male cat who just started having minor anal protrusion. It sticks out about half an inch and bleeds a little. The stools are also wet. Is this considered an anal/rectal prolapse?
He’s a house cat and doesn’t go out, and the meals are wet food twice a day.
Thank you all so much!

Prolapse is any tissue outside of the body that belongs inside. So yes it would meet the definition. Correcting the cause at this early stage offers the best prognosis. Usually it is intestinal parasites or diarrhea. Both should be treated by your vet.
Honestly, I’d consider this an emergency. Please get him seen today, ASAP.
