Thank you both so much. The game warden found him abandoned in the woods so unfortunately we have no knowledge of his previous diet. The dog, not the game warden. I’ll do what you both suggested and tell the vet the diarrhea persists. I’ll check back in here after the vet consult. Thank you both again so much for guiding me.

Do you know whether he had problems with diarrhea before? (in the shelter, rescue …) Stress from change, new food … can cause diarrhea but I don’t feel it should last this long unless there is a lot of stress which I figure you’d notice/mention …?
Is his new food dramatically different from what he was fed before? What type of food are you using? Vet checked stool, urine and blood and found nothing?

Sorry, jennifer – I forgot to give the web sites to find integrative veterinarians. They are trained in many different approaches, including using conventional drugs only when absolutely needed. Working with one can increase the chance that your cherished new companion can live a long and healthy life after recovering from this current problem.
