Hi Jennifer,

congratulations on your new family member!

Do you know whether he had problems with diarrhea before? (in the shelter, rescue …) Stress from change, new food … can cause diarrhea but I don’t feel it should last this long unless there is a lot of stress which I figure you’d notice/mention …?

Is his new food dramatically different from what he was fed before? What type of food are you using? Vet checked stool, urine and blood and found nothing?

Jennifer, You may also want to find a great integrative veterinarian with whom to work who can address both physical and emotional causes of diarrhea. There are a number within 30 minutes of you who do great chinese veterinary medicine – acupuncture and herbs and more, homeopathy, lasers, flower essences, essential oils, Reiki, chiropractic (I have seen some diarrhea cases clear with adjustments) and much more. Sorry, jennifer – I forgot to give the web sites to find integrative veterinarians. They are trained in many different approaches, including using conventional drugs only when absolutely needed. Working with one can increase the chance that your cherished new companion can live a long and healthy life after recovering from this current problem.
