I have two red slider turtles.One of them is growing and is getting pretty big, about the size of half my palm. The other one is remaining almost as small as it was when I got it. for some reason the one just isn’t growing? Help please!

Hi Amber, My first thought is sexual dimorphism … it is likely that the larger faster growing turtle is a female and the smaller turtle is a male. Female RES’s grow much larger and much faster than their male counterparts. Sometimes with sliders, it’s important to be mindful of aggression and dominance with resources. If the larger turtle is more aggressive going after food or even preventing the smaller turtle access to resting places or basking spots the metabolism (and therefore size) of the smaller turtle could be greatly impacted.
