I found earlier this afternoon, one of my budgies squinting his eye and rubbing the side of his face/eye against his perch. On closer examination I found that the feathers around his right eye are no longer there, and the area around his right eye is red. He shares a cage with another female budgie and they do time to time have little tussles but they’ve never gotten into a serious fight before and nothing has indicated that they did get in a fight. Early today his eye seemed fine, but later this evening it’s more prominent. He keeps rubbing the right side of his face against a rough perch or even scratching it with his foot. He wont open his eye now and it looks reddish and a bit swollen. Any idea of what this could be? Could this be a result from the female picking on him?
