I rescued this orphan puppy girl when she was only 1 week old. 4 weeks later she was supposed to start walking but she can’t even get up and the only way she relocates is pushing herself backwards. She does not have a flat chest nor her legs stand from the sides of her body. She just simply appears to lack strenght and coordination. So i took some information on-line and started to do some exercices with her on the tub and making sure she slept always on her sides. But now, she lost ALL the motor skill on one back leg, like it was hanging from her body. She doesnt cry when touched tho. What could it be? And does it have a solution? I’m afraid she wont be able to walk. 🙁

Hi Anna, well done for rescuing this puppy!! You have done wonders hand rearing her from a week old. She will need worming and should have been wormed at 2 weeks, 5 weeks, 8 weeks and every 3 weeks after that until 16/20 weeks. Please do make sure she has no fleas and she has her innoculations when shes older. Because she has had no or very little Colostrum from her mum her immune system will be low….so take great care she is not exposed to any infections.  This problem with her leg could be genetic or it could be… Read more »

That she can feel the pinch is excellent!! Her nerves work then…? I’m no vet though more years of having dogs than I care to remember. I can only hope Krista replies with her opinion. I would have thought Hydrotherapy could have helped her a lot….but as I say I’m not the Vet! If her leg is making a cracking noise msybe its best left alone as your Vet says. Well done great respect to you for caring so well for this baby ?
