I have a 13 year old border collie who is exhibiting some signs of “dementia”, particularly at night. (Randomly barking; restless). I just took her to our vet who prescribed Trazodone for her. Problem is… she prescribed 100 mg! (Initially she was going to prescribe 500 mg, but when I mentioned I thought that was way too much she backed down and gave her the 100 mg script.) My daughter actually takes Trazodone as a sleep aid, but she’s only taking 50 mg and she’s 140 lbs! (My dog is 35 lbs.) I just really need a second opinion before I get this prescription filled and attempt giving this to my dog!

Once again, I am a lay person, not a vet, but this sounds very unreasonable to me! I would get a second professional opinion!
