My pitbull, Tara is now 57 days pregnant with her first pregnancy. On Friday, she started showing signs of strong contractions. Her abdominal muscles pulled tight and she was shivering. She has a thick white discharge aswell. The contractions lasted for about 3 hours (Temp 100 F). After that she acted like nothing has happened. Saturday was the same thing with the contractions. she also has a crust like substance on her vulva. Nothing yesterday(Temp spiked to 100.8F am and dropped to 99.7 F pm). Today she seems like she doesn’t even want to walk (Temp 99.1 F am then rised 100 F lunch time). Still no puppies have arrived. Her teats are filled with milk. Is this normal to wait so long for the puppies to be born? was that her mucus plug that came out? Worried!!!

Honestly, I would be calling the vet you’ve taken her to for monitoring throughout the pregnancy. They are better equipped to handle this should it become an emergency. I would also call your breed mentor.
