My pitbull has cherry eye in both eyes and I was wondering if there was anything I could do or if he absolutely needs to get surgery or if it’s not bothering him, is he okay?

Hello, Thanks for the question. ‘Cherry eye’ is a prolapse of the lacrimal gland of the third eyelid. The third eyelid is that little curtain like looking piece of tissue found in the inner corner of the eye of dogs and cats. We see it most commonly as our pets start to fall asleep. When a pet starts to doze off the eye (the actual eyeball itself) actually falls back into the eye socket allowing the third eyelid to start to slide across the eyelid.
