My niece was given a yorkie but she is only 3 yrs old. There are many problems–she pulls the dogs hair, his ears, hugs too tightly. The dog chews her toys and tries to bite her. It’s constant. I feel she’s too young for a dog, but is it ok? Is there a way to teach the two of them how to behave with one another and play?

i assume this is a puppy – please correct me if i am wrong, here.

you/the child’s parent(s) need to be completely in control of the situation.  teach the child to be gentle, and supervise every interaction.  keep toys away from the puppy, and teach the puppy bite inhibition.  http://www.doggonesafe.com/teach_puppy_not_to_bite

i would crate the puppy when it cannot be supervised 100% for its safety.
