My 9 yr old cat woke up wailing in pain, drooling, wincing and now his nose is swollen. We took him to the vet that said he has som tatar buld up on a back tooth and some gum bleeding. His nose wasnt swollen at that time. He got a shot of antibiotics and some oral pain meds. He growls when he tried to eat and then backed away from the food. Any thoughts? This happened last year around this time and he got the same treatment

Good morning- sorry that this has happened. Did your vet take an X-ray? I’m wondering if there is infection so bad it has spread causing that swelling and that the tooth may need to come out? Just a guess on my part. Is your vet sure that the tooth is the cause of this situation? Or is it just 1 part of a bigger picture? I would definitely call back with a few questions and especially now that there is swelling, maybe even request a follow up. Hope everything is ok. Please keep us posted.
hello,
I agree with Sarah. It is super important to see your vet as soon as you can. I think of drooling as either pain or nausea. Ans swelling has me concerned about infection too. There is no way to guess or even speculate without a good exam and an expert to help understnad what she is trying to tell us.
let us know what happens. good luck!
he Seems to feel better after the shot but his nose is swollen now- across the bridge between his eyes. He is drinking, eating and using the bathroom so that is good- this happened last year exactly the same thing and no definitive diagnosis
