Hi, I just moved to Massachusetts been going to Jarrettsville Vet Clinic for about 2 years, wish I could’ve brought them with me. Anyhow, Maddie is past due for a teeth cleaning, being a diabetic her new vet suggested not feeding her in the morning of the cleaning and giving her 1/2 dose of her insulin. They want to try partially sedating her to see how well she does without full sedation. Does this sound normal about no breakfast, 1/2 dose of insulin on an empty stomach? I do worry about full sedation, so I hope a twilight will work. Boy, do Maddie and I miss our old Veterinarian, not old, ol! Thank you!

Hello,
Please give Maddie a hug for me. I will miss her terribly. This is something to discuss with your vet. I assume they will check her blood glucose at arrival and gonfeom there with her procedure. There isn’t a standard answer here, so if you aren’t sure or comfortable with this express that to them. We all do things a little differently so what works for me isn’t always what others do. Talk to them. And don’t hesitate to ask questions if your are worried. It means you are a good dad. Hugs again. Be well. Krista .
