let’s just say i wouldn’t give him more than 24 hours at that age.  better safe than sorry.

in case i wasn’t clear, i would take him to the vet. you know your cat best – in your shoes i’d wait 24 hours before seeing the vet, but my cat occasionally (rarely) gets constipated, and it usually resolves itself quickly. if your cat has never had BM problems in the past, i’d get him to the vet sooner than later.

Rebecca, waiting longer to get treatment for constipation increases the likely hood of further colon issues. Muscles get stretched out and lose their function. Your vet will probably give subcutaneous fluids, a pet enema if necessary, and something orally to soften his stool if he is constipated.
