Lilly is my 5 year old, 70 pound goldendoodle. She loves the snow and loves being outdoors. I can dress for the weather even below 0. Is there a good rule of thumb for when it’s too cold to take her out for a walk or to play?

From my experience with being outdoors and pets, It’s best to keep the breed/age/size of the animal in mind…for example, a little elderly chihuahua may not fair well out in the snow on a long walk,,,,At the kennel where I work, dogs get rotated outside in all types of weather. We just keep an eye on how well each dog tolerates it. Sometimes dogs have to be encouraged to even step out in cold weather, while others bound out and want to stay out for longer periods of time.  Just like people, you can usually tell when they are comfortable… Read more »
