My husband and I are watching our neighbor’s dog for the summer. She’s a catahoula cur/lab mix, about 8 months old. In the yard there are brown areas of dead grass where she urinates, and have never seen this before. Is this normal?

Actually, I find that most raw fed, healthy dogs do not kill the grass. I am always amazed at how different veterinarians seem to attract dogs with similar problems. Rarely (ten I can remember in 33 years) is that a problem with my clients. Often a supplement, Grass Saver by naturVet will help. It contains a synergistic combination of B-Complex vitamins and amino acids that are healthy for your dog and seem to save the grass, too.
