Marie,

I have heard of holistic preventives, such as nosodes (I cannot tell with certainty how effective these may or may not be), but I haven’t heard of a homeopathic remedy for an actual already heartworm positive dog.

Even literature, such as "Holistic Guide for a Healthy Dog" talks about using Immiticide for an actual treatment of an already positive dog.

there is a lot of debate in the homeopathic veterinary community (www.theAVH.org) about the use of nosodes (homeopathic remedies made from heartworms and diseased tissue, then diluted and agitated to produce a totally non toxic energy template) to prevent heartworms. some feel they are effective. I think many of the dogs who are on nosodes are also being treated in ways to build the immune system, so their scavenger cells find and kill the larvae during their 3-5 month trek from the mosquito bite site.
