Are nylabones and benabones safe dog chews? We’ve used them on all our dogs for years and we replace them when they get fuzzy and have never had a problem. Now I’m reading where the plastic doesn’t pass and can block their gut. This info was from someone selling expensive alternatives so I’m not sure to believe the hype. Thank you so much, you all are wonderful kind souls.

Hello, Anything that can be chewed can be broken down into small (or even large ) pieces. If the chew isn’t organic these pieces can accumulate in the stomach or body (intestines). We always worry about blockage or rupture. So lots of vets get worried about dogs who chew or are encouraged to chew. I don’t really care what they are chewing on I worry. Antlers can break teeth. So even if they are organic they can be problematic. Ideally dogs would not be chewers. If I had to pick a chew toy it would be a large Kong tooth… Read more »
