Dr. Krista and others had great suggestions, Sharon. As an integrative practitioner, I would add/modify a few.  I would like to know where you live as that may change some of my suggestions.   Weight right for sure. Try a great senior diet. My favorite is a fresh food diet that will provide all the essentials needed to keep a senior dog healthy in many ways. Cosequin is also a great glucosamine-chondroitin supplement.  Continue taking walks, and giving your pet a gentle exercise routine as well as a warm place to sleep.  We also got a ramp for our elderly dog so he could continue car rides.  Lifting 125 pounds in and out was a chore for us, but the ramp let him enjoy life for some time longer.  Finally, ask your vet for an anti-inflammatory pain med…

 It works great!  I’d also add a glucosamine supplement such as these if it was really bad.
