My 5 month old poodle-bichon mix is blonde and fair skinned. He is due to be fixed in the next couple of months. However, his testicles are purple-blue-dark grey. He doesn’t pay extra attention to them and it doesn’t seem to bother him at all. A family member owns his littermate and his testicles are the same color as the rest of his skin. This concerns me. Should I be worried and rush the neutering?

Hello Tricia, The pigment color of the skin won’t affect any part of his neuter. Your vet will examine him before neutering and if they have any concerns they will notify you and discuss it. A change of skin color of the testicles is very normal. At my clinic we recommend pre-op neuter bloodwork about a week before the surgery is scheduled.
