We have a 7 year old German Shepard with perianal fistulas. He has been on this course of prednisone for 2 weeks, started at 30 mg per day and after one week and much improvement in the anal area we reduced the dose to 20 mg per day. Yesterday he started vomiting and today he has not had anything to eat or drink. He is still vomiting, just slime coming up. I am assuming that the medicine did not stay down yesterday and he would not take it today. He is also very lethargic today. He has been taking 20 mg of pepcid and 1 g carafate with food prior to taking the prednisone. Every other time he has been on prednisone getting him to eat has not been a problem. Not sure what to do this time to get him to eat so that he can take the meds.
