I have a two year old female Tennessee Fainting Goat. She is eating normally, but she cannot stand up. It seems she cannot get her balance and she falls right over. This is not the same behavior as when she gets startled and "faints"; this is an ongoing issue that just started within the past 24 hours. She is laying down and will not stand up.

Please offer any advice you can provide =)

Hello Lisa, There are a few conditions that might cause these clinical signs. Your goat likely needs to be seen by a veterinarian. Preferably one that sees ruminants. But a good place to start is to check the eyes. Are they centered and able to focus. Pets can have ocular abnormalities that make them feel dizzy. Also we would check inner ears. Looking for any reason that the vestibular system, and therefore the internal up vs down reference is still in place. Other things to look at are muscle tone in the legs.
