I have a 3 year old Female Maine Coon who is very shy. I am going on vacation and have someone who will come in twice a day to feed her. They suggested it might be better for her if I took her there rather than leaving her alone. She just lost her brother this week, but she is very close to my dog. Unfortunately the dog is going to be boarded so she will be totally alone for the first time in her life. She never comes out when a stranger comes in the house, including when I am away on vacation. I do not want to stress her out and wonder if it is just best to leave her in her familiar surroundings. Also the person who is going to take care of her lost her cat last month due to age, and I am sure her house is still going to smell of her male cat. Not sure if that would stress her.

Sooo, is it best to leave her home?

Thanks, Carole Reid

Also cats get a condition called hepatic lipidosis, where their liver actually begins to shut down if they are not eating regularly. This can be fatal. I see it most often after the owners have… Read more »
