Hello,

Feline leukemia is transmitted pretty easily between cats. It can be spread through shared water bowls, food bowls etc. It is sometimes taught to is in vet school as the "disease of friendly cats" because they can transmit it to each other easily

FlV is not as easily transmitted. The primary mode of transmission is through fighting and biting. Therefore you can have a colony of cats where some have FIV and some do not if they are not fighting and biting one another.
