How long does dry cat food stay safe in a bowl? How often should we change it?

No food fares well when exposed to light and air. Nutrients get damaged, fats go rancid. Why not fill the bowl just enough so it gets eaten in one day or less? You might need to figure out how much food that is but you will also have a better idea of how much your cat eats, which can be life-saving at one point.

Hi Al, It’s best to try and put down just enough for one feeding with cats. People tend to leave out food all day. The problem is, you can’t tell if your cat ate, or didn’t eat, and the food goes stale or attracts ants. I’d  recommend giving about 1/4-1/3 cup dry in the am and again in the PM, Some cats tend to overeat,or are overfed.
