Dog was recently adopted from the humane society and received a standard neuter. 2 days later he was suffering from a scrotal hematoma and the vet is quoting $1800 for a scrotal ablasion. This seems high seeing as the price to do a standard neuter is 250 + $150 for the full scrotal ablasion.

Does this sound right??

Hello, I will say that in all of my many years I have not treated a scrotal hematoma with an ablation. I always let them resolve (with compressed and medications and maybe even cold laser). At my clinic a scrotal ablation is about 300 if done after the neuter, or about $150 if added to the neuter. I agree it sounds very high. I would inquire why and then consider another primary care vet who isn’t undercutting some services while grossly inflating others (if that is what appears to be going on. Hi there- I think I would get a second opinion at a different practice. Is this the same vet that did the original neuter? You may want to speak to that vet as well. Perhaps they can advise accordingly. Best of luck!!!💛🐾
