I have recently been to my vet (regarding other medical issues- he underwent urinary crystal surgery back in September) however doing a checkup he stated that the ears were fine if not a big hairy and needing to be plucked.

When cleaning the ears I use a ear powder to grip hairs to pluck before using a q-tip to clean the wax from the outer ear. Ever since I noticed the smell I spritz some Vetercyn solution on the outer ear although that has not helped.

He seems to gather a lot of ear wax as I clean them on a monthly basis and it seems like I use about 5-6 q-tips per ear each time if not more.

What can I do?

the parking may be more painful and I would defer to any groomer on this but cleaning the ears can be done weekly.

i would step that up to a weekly clean-out, and see how things go.
