My dog just had kidney stone surgery. Vet now says he can Only eat Royal Canin SO for the rest of his life. She conveniently sells it. Did research- don’t like it. Options??

My Scottie had crystals in his bladder a year ago and my vet recommended Cranberry Extract — to be found in the health supplement isle of the grocery store.  He said it should clear up the crystals and help prevent stones from developing.  We test the urine every 6 months to make sure all is good — and this year he popped up with a bladder infection.  We did antibiotics to kill the staph, probiotics to help build better bacteria in his system, and went back on the Cranberry Extract.  You just might want to do a bit of research… Read more »

do keep in mind, at least one of those websites is not maintained by a veterinary nutritionist.

and even if i wasn’t a fan of the brand, if my pet were put on a prescription for something specific, i’d use that food.
