My dog is an Icelandic Sheepdog..She has an undercoat…Is it ok to get her hair cut for long hot summer days?

DO NOT TRIM YOUR SHELTIE (unless it is medically necessary)!! Just make sure you have brushed him well and gotten all the undercoat out with an undercoat rake. If his coat is in good condition it will protect him from the heat and the cold. 

FYI- Beware of the “Furminator” on long haired double coated breeds. You can quickly destroy their topcoat if you aren’t careful. All you need for their undercoat is an undercoat rake. 

Also, be aware that if you trim your sheltie, it will take a VERY long time for their topcoat to come back in.
