My dog is diabetic and insulin dependent. My question is can she ever go back to not needing insulin and if so, how can I be proactive to help her.

Hello Tracy, This is a tough question without knowing about your dog, age, breed, weight, lifestyle, and how long they have been a diabetic. BUT, in general dogs that are diagnosed and treated successfully with insulin are insulin dependent for the rest of their lives. In some cases the amount of insulin can be decreased as the diet and weight is managed. Also, many dogs lose their sight as the diabetes progresses.
