With a limp, the important thing is to start examining all the way from the toes. Foot injuries, infections and foreign bodies can cause a limp. Check the foot thoroughly. Then proceed slowly from the foot up. Look for infections, swelling, hot areas. If you don’t find anything, it is possible that soft tissue got injured. Have your dog sit to see whether he sits “straight”. With a number of injuries, the affected leg will be “kicked outward” when sitting, rather than being tucked in properly.
