I’ve had my cat for three months – she was a stray before that. She’s very young (1) and she’s been to the vet and they said she’s very healthy. However she naturally breathes quite quick- over 30 breaths per min- sometimes more depending on what she’s doing. When she’s just sitting upright it’s around 31. However when she’s lying down she breathes slower and when she’s sleeping/very relaxed, it can be as low as 24. So just wondering, would you say this is ‘normal’? I know all cats are different and my cats been doing this since I’ve got her. I will talk to the vet at the next check up but that’s around 4 months away, so I’m wondering does she need a special visit? One thing that worries me is sometimes when she’s lying down (as in curled up) her abdomen/chest rises and falls very quick for about 2 seconds. My cat’s always very alert – she’s quite anxious – I think she may have been attacked or something before I got her, so is this ok?
