Hello, i have a big (36 kg) 13 years old dog. reseantly his breathing is very heavy even when he is reasting and his walks are very short he gets tired quickly. My vet did an eco heart and everything was o.k he thinks it may be a joint problem so he gave him steroid shot, but there is no change.Maybe you can suggest something else . Thank you Anya.

I would have suggested the heart also, but since you say that the heart is fine, were his lungs checked? Is his abdomen swollen? Maybe he has fluids in her lungs or abdomen, that cause the breathing problems. Another thing that come to my mind are tumors or metastasis in the lung.
Does he seem in pain while walking? Or does it seem more like he doesn’t liek to walk because of the breathing problems?

That sounds like an additional joint problem. Was an x-ray done? As far as I know it is most likely the hips, knees or elbows that cause the pain. Sometimes also the lower back. Maybe ask your vet if you can try some pain medication, to see if he can move better? If pain is the cause, the breathing should also get better. But I also can’t imagine, that joint pain causes so heavy breathing problems.

I would definitely re-connect with my vet. If you were recommended a steroid shot and there is no change additional diagnosis is certainly necessary.
