I am helping a friend foster a litter of 5 week old kittens, one of them is having an awful time passing stool and is seemingly in intense pain when she attempts to go, a vet has been called, but I am terrified that she won’t make it, Help!

I’m certainly no expert but I have heard that you can stimulate them to go using a warm cloth/towel (videos and explanations are readily found online). Being a med student, it certainly sounds the same for humans – she could be dehydrated. Diluted pedialyte/water mixture could help if she’ll drink it. If you haven’t noticed her drinking then you can “force feed” her water in very small doses from a syringe or dropper…probably only a few ml at a time and try stimulating again.
