Could you address the dangers of letting dogs have corn cobs. With BBQ season in full swing I think some people feel these are safe for dogs to chew on.

Extremely dangerous.  I have assisted in multiple surgeries removing corn cobs and piece of them from several patients.  Never let them have them.  If they like the corn, cut it of the cob and give it to them, or hold the cob (my dog likes to nibble it off), but never let them take it from you and eat it.  And make sure you don’t have a dumpster diver that can get a hold of them.  Very dangerous.

A corn cob will not dissolve/digest. If small enough, it will pass through, intact, if large enough, it will cause blockage and will have to be surgically removed.
