About six months ago or so I noticed a small pea size growth on the outside of my dogs paw. we took him to the vet and they didn’t seem concerned about it but it has grown a little bit bigger (im not sure if due to it being irritated) to the size of a pistachio. he doesn’t seem bothered by it but occasionally bumps or scratches it by accident causing to to bleed. were taking him to the vet today to possibly get it removed, but what could it be? he is a 10 year old bulldog mix in great health aside from having allergies and being prone to skin issues.

It is impossible to diagnose this without an examination. Here’s some additional info.

Good morning,
I’m glad you’re going to the vet. They can look closely at it and be able to better understand what exactly it is. Having said that, one of our GSDs had a strange bump on his forepaw a while back that I was worried about, went to the vet, and it turned out to be some sort of clogged hair follicle…thank goodness. My assumption is that if it is anything that needs to be explored further, your vet can take a biopsy or remove the whole thing and send it out to pathology. Hopefully it’s nothing??
