Hello. I’m so sorry bout your dog. I think a serious conversation with your vet is in the cards. They know your dog best, and will be better able to give you an idea of how your dog would do. Myself, personally? At first, my logical self would say that the dog is too old to go through the ordeal. However, having an elderly dog, I might change that answer. Best of luck.

Every client that I have had who did the surgery was happy to have done it afterwards. In my opinion if your dog is severe enough to warrant surgery, you have access to a good surgeon who had experience doing it, and you can afford it I say YES! They are much happier and comfortable after. Good luck. And ps this surgery is always done on old labs. So don’t let age or breed be the discouraging factor. Hope this helps. And hope your pup is ok.
