It’s Terrifying Them And Making Them Shake So I’ve Had To Comfort Them And Make…

It’s terrifying them and making them shake so I’ve had to comfort them and make sure she doesn’t come in and it feels like I’m being really mean, I just would rather know why this is happening so my mind is at rest. They’re so tiny and it’s horrible to see. I’ll be honest, and I’ve had relatives making nasty remarks about this but – I was supposed to get her spayed over the weekend but I really can’t afford it until payday next week. Which by the way I am going to do. However, the neighbours cat, the kitties dad, made his way into the house in the middle of the night. Momma came in season around 18 days ago and it usually lasts around 11 days. She was also showing no signs of still being in season. But there he was last night, sat in the hallway with her. I don’t know if they got up to anything but I’m just ruling out a possibility as to why she’s behaving this way towards her babies. I love them all with all my heart and I hate to see this conflict between them 🙁

Firstly I have no doubt they mated again. Get her spayed next week! Don’t leave it any longer.

Shes probably hissing at the kittens when they try and feed from her. They have needle teeth now and shes telling them to go find their own food!

At 5 weeks you can start to feed the kittens soft can food but not much at first, when my cat had 5 kittens I split one can between all the kittens, you may see that there poop might be a little runny at first but it will harden after there systems get use to the food, you can even start them on  hard food but mix it with warm water, I always put hard food in a dish and fill it with warm water then when its soft mash it well and feed to the babies. It is normal… Read more »

Very possible if he’s an older dog, he may just be getting old and lazy, but you don’t want to rule out the possibility of a hurt paw or limb!

Hi Georgia….you have to take him to a Vet and quickly…..!  This isn’t due to old age, 8 years isn’t old for a Shih tzu.  If this has happened suddenly then he’s in pain. He could have damaged his spine, have a disc on the way to slipping, hurt his legs anything. He needs to see a Vet to find out whats wrong. If you leave it….it will get worse. If hes slipped a disc you have big problems. Believe me I know, my boy had spinal surgery for just that last May.  Its really not a good idea to… Read more »

I’ve tried personally to just dampen a clean cloth with luke warm water, but as I said, keeps coming back. Obviously if it is a problem I’ll take her when I can afford it.

Hi again Georgia, looks like she has an eye infection. I would get her to the Vet if I were you. If shes sneezing and has a runny nose you need to take her straight away.  Don’t bathe her eyes with water from the tap, its not sterile and won’t feel nice in her eyes. Get some Saline from a Chemist or Opticians sell it too, its sterile and much softer on her eyes.  Use a clean cotton wool pad for each eye so you are not spreading it. Make sure you wash your hands before and after so the… Read more »

Ps we always make sure the house is completely clean so I don’t assume it has anything to do with that. Although I honestly have no idea why they keep on crawling back if we’ve been treating the them

Hi Georgia….Frontline isn’t working too well this year. There have been several reports about it, including one from my Vet. Seems fleas are mutating and becoming immune to it.

I would try another brand. Stronghold is good (prescription needed), Advantage ect.

Its much cheaper to buy it online by the way than from your Vet. Have a look at http://www.vet.co.ukHope that helps.

You are welcome ?

I agree with Krista, I still use Frontline and don’t have any problem with fleas at all. I daren’t use anything else as one of my dogs is quite fragile and I know Frontline is safe for him. I recommended http://www.vet.uk as its a very trusted site here in the UK, which sells not only Frontline ect but prescription medication too.

Perhaps it is imposter Frontline thats the problem but here we do seem to be having trouble with it not working. So yes Georgia be careful where you get it from.

I Was Bare Footed Thankfully. She Isn’t Feeding And She Just Goes Straight To Sleep…

I was bare footed thankfully. She isn’t feeding and she just goes straight to sleep as soon as we try to check on her. She’s being really quiet in comparison to how playful she usually is. I feel absolutely terrible for this and cannot stop crying. She has sneezing constantly and bled a little from her nose. Her front top gun now sees to be overlapping the bottom and I really don’t know what to do. My mum can’t afford to take her to a vet and I cannot stop panicking please please someone help me, is she going to be okay?

Hi try not to beat yourself up about this, it was an accident you didn’t do it on purpose.

However this kitten needs a Vet and you need to take her somehow. If her top jaw is overlapping it sounds serious…plus a nosebleed. You cannot leave the little kitten in pain…you have to get her to a Vet. You could try phoning the PDSA they may be able to help.

Oh dear Georgia…this is so awful for you. But it was an accident, you didn’t do it on purpose and no one will blame you…honestly, I certainly don’t. Please don’t live with guilt these things unfortunately happen. I’m pleased you contacted the PDSA but was hoping they would help with the cost for you. I am very pleased the kitten is at the Vet and hopefully its not as serious as a skull fracture. However, it may be better to let her go if it is…but feeding off her mum is s very positive sign. Its very hard when things… Read more »

Georgia
I see how you are concerned They are so little and helpless
Are there any Cat Protection places in your area- they may be able to direct you to a University vet clinic or a similar establishment
where they would be cheaper
I know as there is such a place in Sydney where I live
I know finance can be a problem- but a check up at a vet would set your mind at rest
and once I was allowed to pay the vet bill off
Good luck

I know that vet bills can get costly but if the poor baby bleed from the nose then you should really get the poor little baby checked you wouldn’t want her to suffer if she is in pain. To get the vet to just do a check on the baby it shouldn’t be that much just call around and get the cheatest rate. Good luck

Oh thank god she is going to be ok. And I’m so glad that the vet was so good to her. Just give kitty lots of love and she will recover faster then you think. ☺
